"A very good event overall - I found it very informative in answering the questions I had and guiding me to the places I can go to find any other information I need"

Learning, Living and Working in Europe

The Trust, in conjunction with the National Union of Students, is running a series of Information Days at Scottish Universities. These raise awareness of EU programmes (e.g. Erasmus, Comenius, IAESTE, Language Assistants) and of post-graduate study and employment opportunities in other European countries. Volunteering is also covered.

Speakers include representatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, British Council, Young Scot, the Scottish Government and the private sector. In addition, students and young people who have studied or worked in Europe give presentations on their experiences. There is an opportunity to ask questions and to network with the speakers, and the British Council, Young Scot and the European Parliament and Commission have information stands.

Information Days have been held at the universities of Edinburgh (Feb 2009), Strathclyde (Feb 2008), Aberdeen (Nov 2009)  and Glasgow Caledonian (Dec 2009). Two events will take place in the Spring Term of 2010 - Edinburgh University on Wednesday 20 January and Stirling University on Wednesday 10 March. A draft copy of the Edinburgh University event is available here. Please contact barbara@seet.uk.com for further details.

Tale of Travel

Eilidh Hall
Eilidh Hall“I was invited to speak at Strathclyde University about my year abroad in Barcelona. I was told I'd be doing someone a favour by giving a wee informal talk about what I got up to when I was away, but to be honest they did me a favour. The conference was really useful and certainly expelled those typical 'what-will-I-do-when-I-graduate' worries that we all get towards the end of uni. It filled a real gap as I'd never heard of anything similar and certainly nothing so accessible. Thanks to that conference I've met great, and useful, people and feel a lot more relaxed about graduating and have a better idea of all that Europe has to offer." - Eilidh Hall, University of Glasgow
